Comp Plan Draft Refined For County Review

The latest draft of the Doña Ana County Comprehensive Plan is ready for consideration for recommendation by the County’s Planning and Zoning Commission in a public hearing on Thursday, June 18.

The Commission has already provided valuable input leading to clarifications and additions to the draft Plan. Those refinements, along with suggestions from residents, farmers and business groups following the latest round of workshops, have been integrated into the new document.

At the Thursday meeting, which will be held at 9 a.m. in the Board of County Commission Chambers, the Planning and Zoning Commission is expected to consider recommending the new version of the Comp Plan to the Board of County Commissioners for adoption.

The intensive collaboration that led to this point began some three years ago. You can follow its steady progress in the Diary posts preceding this one.

Participation of so many individuals and organizations in the process assured that the current document reflects broad consensus for growth-guiding strategies for Doña Ana County. Everyone should be proud of their contributions to this historic effort.
